2. Running a handover
What Lux Handoff does
Lux Handoff injects a structured prompt into your active Claude session, waits for Claude to generate a comprehensive summary, then exports it as PDF, TXT, and Markdown files — and pre-composes your Resume Context for tomorrow's session.
Step by step
- Make sure you have at least one Claude chat open at claude.ai
- Click the Lux Handoff icon in your Chrome toolbar
- If you have multiple Claude tabs open, the picker will show them — select the chat you want to capture. If you only have one Claude tab, it auto-runs.
- Click Run Chat Handover
- Wait while Claude generates the summary — this typically takes 30–60 seconds depending on conversation length
- A save dialog will appear — choose where to save the PDF. TXT and MD files save automatically to the same location.
- Once complete you'll see ✓ Done — PDF, TXT, MD saved. Resume Context stored.
Manual URL input
You can also paste any Claude chat URL or UUID directly into the input field and click Use to run a handover on a specific chat without navigating to it first.
What gets exported
- PDF — formatted document with bold section headers, saved to your chosen location
- TXT — plain text version, same filename, same location
- Markdown (.md) — markdown version with date header, same location
All files are named LuxHandoff_YYYY-MM-DD by default.
3. Using your Resume Context
What is the Resume Context?
After a successful handover, Lux Handoff pre-composes a Resume Context — an opening message for tomorrow's Claude session that contains your full summary plus a structured startup prompt. It's automatically copied to your clipboard.
Using it tomorrow
- Open a new Claude chat
- Click the Lux Handoff icon — you'll see a 📋 Copy Resume Context for next chat button
- Click it to copy to clipboard
- Paste into Claude and press Enter
- Claude will read your summary and pick up exactly where you left off
4. After your free trial
What happens at day 7
Seven days after install, the trial expires. The extension will show the key entry screen when you click the icon. Your previously exported files are unaffected — nothing is deleted.

5. Troubleshooting
"Couldn't inject prompt into Claude editor"
- Make sure a Claude chat tab is open and active at claude.ai
- Refresh the Claude tab and try again
- If the issue persists, try closing and reopening the Lux Handoff window
- If injection fails, Lux Handoff will copy the prompt to your clipboard — paste it manually into Claude and press Enter, then click Run again once Claude has finished generating
"Claude is still generating — wait for it to finish"
Lux Handoff checks whether Claude is mid-response before injecting. Wait for Claude to finish its current response, then click Run Chat Handover again.
"Summary cut off — Claude was interrupted"
The handover prompt was injected but Claude didn't complete the summary with the required END OF HANDOFF marker. This can happen if Claude hits a message limit mid-response. Click Run Chat Handover again to retry.
"Summary failed validation"
The captured summary was too short or didn't contain enough structured sections. This is rare — usually caused by Claude generating a very brief response. Try again; if it persists, start a new Claude chat and re-run.
"My key isn't being accepted"
- Make sure you're entering the email address used at checkout — not a different email
- Copy the entire key including the
LXH-P-prefix and all dashes - Check there are no leading or trailing spaces
- Keys are uppercase — do not modify the format
Exported files aren't appearing
- Check your Downloads folder — files are named
LuxHandoff_YYYY-MM-DD.pdf/txt/md - If you cancelled the PDF save dialog, only the TXT and MD files will have saved automatically
- Run the handover again to regenerate all three files
